A man died in a hospital days after a crash in Kansas City involving a motorcycle and semi truck, police said.

The crash happened Monday on Truman Road, just west of Lister Avenue, according to a crash log. Officers responded to the scene around 4:14 p.m.

According to the crash log, a Kawasaki motorcycle drove east on Truman Road as a U.S. Postal Service semi truck tractor and trailer was stopped in the road, just west of Lister Ave.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the trailer, ejecting the driver completely off the motorcycle.

Paramedics transported the motorcycle driver to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Thursday, police were notified that the man was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Police have not yet publicly identified the man who died.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash, police said.

The crash resulted in Kansas City’s 27th traffic death this year, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a police spokeswoman. At this time last year, the city had recorded 24 traffic deaths.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
