A motorcycle driver is left with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Kansas City involving a semi truck trailer, police said.

Officers responded around 4:14 p.m. to the area of Truman Road and Lister Avenue in Kansas City’s East Community Team North neighborhood on a reported crash.

According to a crash log, the crash happened as a Kawasaki motorcycle drove east on Truman Road. A U.S. Postal Service International semi truck tractor and trailer was stopped in traffic on Truman Road, just west of Lister Ave.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the trailer, ejecting the driver completely off the motorcycle, according to the crash log.

Paramedics transported the motorcycle driver to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured in the crash, police said.

On Wednesday, the motorcycle driver remained in critical condition at the hospital, police said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
