Kansas City has a new nonstop flight to this major U.S. airport
Those wanting to fly from Kansas City to Los Angeles now have another option to fly without a layover.
On April 6, United Airlines initiated a new daily nonstop service between Kansas City International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
This is the United’s seventh nonstop flight between MCI and its other U.S. hub airports. Those include:
- Chicago — O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Denver — Denver International Airport (DEN)
- Houston — Houston/George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
- Newark, New Jersey — Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
- San Francisco — San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Washington, D.C. — Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
According to United, LAX is a critical gateway for travelers to get to countries in Asia and the Pacific.
Frontier, Delta, Southwest and Spirit are the among the airlines that also fly to LAX from KCI.
United isn’t the only airline adding more nonstop flights to MCI. Last year, Southwest announced starting June 4, 2026, that the airline will start daily flights from MCI to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). At the same time, weekend nonstop flights will begin to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) and Norfolk International Airport (ORF).
It’s worth noting that Los Angeles is one of the host sites of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Kansas City. On June 16, Ecuador and Curaçao face off in KC, then a matchup that will featuring Switzerland and an opponent to be determined later will take place June 18 in L.A.
