Kansas City is getting new nonstop flights to three East Coast destinations

Kansas Citians will have new quick routes to three East Coast destinations starting next summer.

Southwest Airlines is launching new nonstop flights between Kansas City and Boston; Savannah, Georgia; and Norfolk, Virginia.

Starting on June 4, 2026, the airline will start daily nonstop flights from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), according to a city press release. At the same time, weekend nonstop flights will begin to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) and Norfolk International Airport (ORF).

Southwest will also increase the frequency of nonstop flights between KCI and Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

Melissa Cooper, MCI’s director of aviation, said in a press release, “These new flights offer travelers more options and easier itineraries to some of our most requested destinations.”

Travelers can book their nonstop flights now on the Southwest Airlines website.

Round-trip nonstop flights to Boston start at $482, including fees, and take 3 hours there, and 20 minutes longer the way back.

Southwest will run the 2 hour 20 minute flights to the Savannah airport on Saturdays, starting at $540 total. Part of the increased price is because the June basic level tickets for the return flight are sold out. The airport serves Georgia and South Carolina coastal destinations like Tybee and Hilton Head Islands.

The flights to Norfolk run on Saturdays, taking approximately 2.5 hours each leg, and round-trip nonstop trips start at $480 total. Once in Norfolk, travelers are 30 minutes from the sands of Virginia Beach, and an hour drive from the North Carolina border.

While KCI already had a nonstop flight to Boston through Delta, these are the first nonstop flights to Norfolk, Virginia and the airport serving Savannah, Georgia and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Kansas City Southwest passengers can already fly nonstop to 41 cities, according to the MCI airport website.
