Barbie dolls sold at Independence store may be tainted with fentanyl, police warn
The Independence Police Department is searching for Barbie dolls that may have been contaminated with fentanyl before they were sold at a local discount store.
In social media post Saturday, the police department said store workers at Cargo Largo, 3232 S Noland Road, notified officers that the dolls may have been contaminated with fentanyl before they arrived at the store to be sold.
Police did not say how workers came to know about the possible fentanyl contamination. A spokesperson for the police department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to the social media post, the Independence Police Department has already tracked the majority of the dolls sold. However, two or three dolls were still outstanding as of Saturday afternoon.
It was not immediately clear whether the dolls already tracked down by Independence police were found to have been contaminated.
Anyone who purchased a Barbie doll from the Independence Cargo Largo between March 19-20 is urged to contact Independence police at (816) 836-3600.
