Pedestrian in critical condition after hit-and-run in east Kansas City

A pedestrian is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in Kansas City Saturday night.

Police were called around 10:49 p.m. to the area of 5600 E Truman Road on an injury crash. Preliminary information indicated a white SUV was traveling west on Truman Road from Lawndale Avenue when the driver allegedly struck a pedestrian in the road, leaving them unconscious, according to Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

The driver fled the scene headed west, and the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
