NFL drops Bad Bunny merch before Super Bowl: Why is a toad wearing Chiefs gear?
Guaranteed this isn’t the first time you’ve heard this year’s Super Bowl referred to as the Bunny Bowl. Guaranteed it won’t be the last because Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is the halftime headliner.
But there’s another member of the animal kingdom that’s in the spotlight during this year’s Super Bowl, thanks to limited-edition fan merchandise from the singer and the NFL.
The “Fans/Concho” collection of licensed streetwear for all 32 teams, including the Chiefs, features the Grammy winner’s signature “Sapo Concho” mascot.
The sapo concho is the Puerto Rican crested toad, an endangered amphibian native to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Island. Bad Bunny featured it in his visual album, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” his ode to Puerto Rico that also drew attention to the island’s precarious environment.
It brought a lot of attention to the cute little toad who has found new life on football merch.
The collection includes $100 hoodies, $55-$60 T-shirts and New Era baseball caps that show the toad wearing all the NFL uniforms. Each team’s mascot is on the back of the shirts and hoodies, and a “Bad Bunny 2026” football logo sits on sleeves.
“Bad Bunny also appears to have taken a cue from the trendiest toy of the last couple of years — Labubu— with his Concho NFL plushies,” Rolling Stone wrote. “These seven-inch-tall stuffed toys feature the toad in uniform except for the helmet, and they have a carabiner on the top.”
Right after Bad Bunny’s performance on Sunday, a second collection, “Super Tazón,” will drop.
It will be the first official NFL Super Bowl merchandise to feature a Spanish translation, according to Rolling Stone.
Super tazón means Super Bowl in English.
The Bad Bunny merch can be pre-ordered on NFLShop.com.
