Brittany Mahomes builds an igloo for the kids, jokes she’ll never do that again

Some Instagram trends that look easy online aren’t so easy in real life.

Brittany Mahomes got a cold, hard lesson in that recently, while at the same time proving she is one fun and determined mom.

The co-owner of KC Current, who is married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, jumped on the family-fun trend of building colorful backyard igloos. She posted a video of the process to her Instagram on Monday.

Nothing to it, according to videos like these online.

And yet.

“When you see this idea on Instagram and think it’s a good idea to do, it’s really important that you should probably think again,” Mahomes wrote in a caption on her video, punctuated by two “tears of joy” emojis.

The older of the three Mahomes children — Sterling, 4, and Bronze, 2 — helped, along with a few unidentified pals and other kids.

We’re fairly certain she didn’t expect the project to take nearly a week.

The video shows dozens of pans of frozen water lined up on the patio, in the snow, on top of patio chairs.

“Just a couple rookies trying to show you the process of how to build an igloo ... would say we will do better next time, but there will never be a next time,” Mahomes wrote on her post, feeling much like this fellow Instagram user.

Her effort, however, drew raves from the NFL family, first from her hubby who wrote: “Best mom out there!!”

(Responding to Patrick, someone wrote: “did you say ‘sorry Brit… you’re on your own with this one. I’m injured!’”)

Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, applauded, too, writing: “That’s insanely awesome!! Great job! A HUGE project but what a special memory!”

Fellow moms felt the same.

“This is definitely mom of the year material! So fun and creative! Bet it will be a core memory for those babes!” wrote one of the nearly 80,000 people who have rewarded the video with likes.

The KC Current noticed one of the colors used. “A teal igloo?! yea we’re obsessed,” the team wrote on Mahomes’ post.

On Tuesday, Mahomes posted an Instagram story asking followers to help decide the igloo’s fate.

“Should we tackle it?”

“No just let it be.”
