Jason Sudeikis and ‘Ted Lasso’ cast wrap up season 4 filming with hugs, bloopers
And that’s a wrap on the fourth season of “Ted Lasso.”
Cast and crew members shared videos over the weekend of the wrap party celebrating in London.
Last week Apple TV announced that the new season will debut this summer, but did not give a specific date. The announcement ramped up speculation that the premiere will coincide somehow with the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Games will be played in Kansas City between June 16 and July 11 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
At the end of season three, ever-optimistic Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, returned home to Kansas. In season four he returns to Richmond in England to coach a second-division women’s football (soccer) team.
“Ted will be back in London for the sitcom’s fourth season, but this time he’ll be coaching a women’s football team,” writes ScreenRant entertainment website.
“On the other hand, the season is expected to start with Ted in his home state of Kansas, just a stone’s throw from one of the stadiums hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in Kansas City, Missouri.
“Wherever Ted is when it begins, we now know for sure that ‘Ted Lasso’ season 4 will overlap with the World Cup. This tournament will be too big for the show to ignore, and we can hazard a guess that Ted will at the very least make reference to the fact that it’s happening.”
Filming of the show’s new season began in Kansas City last summer when Sudeikis, who grew up in Overland Park, brought the main characters here to film scenes during a typically sweltering July.
British actor Jeremy Swift, who plays Leslie Higgins, AFC Richmond’s director of football operations, hasn’t forgotten the Kansas City heat.
“We just wrapped TED LASSO! We started in hot hazy sun in Kansas City (so hot my specs steamed up when I went outside) last July and ended in very wet London end of January!” Swift posted on Instagram over the weekend.
“Was there on day one and the last day. And in between. Always a privilege to work with this cast and crew. Should pop up on screen in the summer. X.”
Other videos show cast and crew members partying in the locker room and Sudeikis telling everyone that a gag reel of “flubberoos, flubbers” — bloopers — would be shown.
When the season debuts, Kansas City fans will get to see the scenes filmed here at several locations, including the Country Club Plaza, Gates Bar-B-Q on Main Street and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
After two weeks of filming in Kansas City, the cast and crew of ended their stay in Kansas City with a boisterous wrap party in a private karaoke suite at Offkey in Westport.
