Hi Star readers,

Even if you don’t have $345 to spare for a wagyu tomahawk steak dinner at 1587 Prime, you’ve probably wondered what it would be like to dine out at Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ ritzy new Kansas City steakhouse.

Since its grand opening four months ago, 1587 Prime has proudly touted iconic local partners on its swanky menu, telling customers that the butter on the table is made by Shatto Milk and the ice cream is courtesy of Betty Rae’s.

The problem is Matt Shatto, who owns both companies, says that’s not true.

His family-owned dairy hasn’t buttered dinner guests’ rolls since 1587 Prime’s soft opening in early September. And, the restaurant cut ties with Betty Rae’s in October. Yet both brands have been advertised to diners as menu features as recently as last week.

“We’ve been trying for months to get them to remove our name from the menu,” Shatto told The Star’s David Hudnall. So, why did 1587 mislead its customers?
