Excelsior Springs man faces murder charge after deadly shooting in small MO town

An Excelsior Springs man has been charged with murder after a deadly shooting in a small Ray County city this week, court records show.

Glen Michael Stice, 55, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Ray County Circuit Court. Stice is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Daniel Konrardy, 43, in Homestead Village earlier this week.

According to court documents, deputies responded shortly after noon Wednesday to a residence after a report of shots fired. Ray County dispatch told deputies that Stice called 911 and said he shot Konrardy. He told law enforcement that the weapon he used would be found on a table on the front porch of his residence, court documents say.

Stice allegedly told dispatchers that someone threw a rock at him, but it missed and struck Stice’s truck. He also said someone had been holding a strap with nails punched through it.

Stice told dispatchers that he used a .22 caliber pistol in the shooting and that Konrardy “brought the wrong weapons to the wrong party,” court documents say.

A detective with the Ray County Sheriff’s Office responded to Stice’s home and found the .22 caliber pistol where Stice said it would be on the front porch. There was one round in the chamber and the magazine was empty, the detective’s probable cause statement said.

The detective then responded to another location where Konrardy’s body was found between a detached garage and a residence. Konrardy was pronounced dead by Ray County paramedics.

Medics and the detective observed a gunshot wound to the left side of Konrardy’s back, what appeared to be a grazing gunshot wound to his forehead, and another possible gunshot wound on his neck, according to court documents.

A court ordered on Thursday that Stice would be held without bond. He is due for an initial appearance by video at 8:45 a.m. Monday.
