Police identify deceased man suspected in fatal shooting of Warrensburg airman
Warrensburg police have identified the suspect believed to be responsible for the death of an airman stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base.
Around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Cedar Drive on reports of a domestic disturbance. There, officers found an armed man, later identified as Glyzua Ingram, according to a Facebook post from the Warrensburg Police Department, walking south toward East Hale Lake Road.
Ingram fired his weapon several times at officers as they arrived, police previously said. Officers did not return fire, but Ingram was later found dead in a nearby wooded area.
Before officers arrived, Ingram is believed to have fatally shot Airman Tony Barron, who police called “[a] courageous bystander” who tried to intervene in the domestic disturbance.
A woman involved in the disturbance was treated for injuries at an area hospital and was later released.
A GoFundMe fundraiser for Barron’s family describes him as a kind person who “would drop everything to help someone else,” the fundraiser said.
The Whiteman Air Force Base identified Ingram as an off-duty senior airman, according to a press release from the Whiteman Air Force Base 509th Bomb Wing.
The Warrensburg Police Department continues to investigate the incident, according to the press release from the 509th Bomb Wing.
