One man is dead, another arrested after deadly shooting in small Ray County city
A 43-year-old Homestead Village, Missouri, man is dead, and another man is custody after a shooting in the small Ray County community near Excelsior Springs, a sheriff spokesperson said.
Deputies responded shortly after 12:15 p.m. Wednesday to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Arapahoe Drive, said Capt. Amy Sisson with the Ray County Sheriff’s Office in a news release. Arriving deputies found the victim unresponsive from gunshot wounds.

Shortly after the shooting, deputies found and arrested a suspect in a home in the city, which is about 30 miles northeast of downtown Kansas City. The man was being held pending formal charges by the Ray County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation into the killing is ongoing, and no additional details, including what led up to the shooting, were being released to preserve the integrity of the case, Sisson said.
