Martin City Brewing Co. — a popular brewery and restaurant with multiple locations across the KC metro — is opening a new spot in the Crossroads.

The restaurant, called Martin City Tavern and Terrace, will open at 1999 Main St. The new spot aims to open in spring 2026 — just in time for the FIFA World Cup.

The 8,000 square-foot space is connected to the City Club Apartments. Above it, a 1,500 square-foot rooftop terrace will offer views of Kansas City’s arts district. The rooftop can be accessed via the ground floor restaurant but will have a separate bar.

“Downtown Kansas City is buzzing with momentum, and we’re proud to finally bring our neighborhood-driven concept to the center of it all,” Martin City Tavern founder Matt Moore said in a written statement to The Star.

“Between the World Cup and the Streetcar expansion, it’s the perfect time to join the party — and we couldn’t be more excited.”

The group is also planning to launch a separate concept inside the same building, but Martin City’s president Nathan Tilton said they’re not quite ready to share further details.

This summer, the company launched its first Martin City Tavern in the South Plaza neighborhood, taking over a former Spin! Pizza spot at 4950 Main St.

Martin City Tavern serves the same pizzas fans love at its Martin City Pizza & Taproom locations, but its expanded menu also includes smashburgers, Nashville hot chicken, sandwiches and more.

The business got its start in 2011, first as a small microbrewery in Martin City. In 2014, it opened a pizza and taproom next door. The original location is still open at 410 E. 135th St.

The restaurant has spots in Lenexa, Overland Park and Lee’s Summit. It also owns Station 7 Tavern and Love, Coffee in Lee’s Summit.
