Blue Springs school bus crashes into dentist’s office, students sent to hospital

A school bus in the Blue Springs School District crashed into a dentist’s office Thursday morning, sending three students to the hospital, police said.

Officers and emergency medical personnel responded just after 6:30 a.m. near U.S. 40 Highway and South 7 Highway to a reported crash. They found a school bus crashed into the Comfort Dental building located at 624 U.S. 40 Highway.

In a phone call Thursday, Capt. Kyle Flowers of the Blue Springs Police Department said investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash.

The bus driver and three students were transported to a hospital for evaluation, he said.

“All the injuries, from my understanding, are minor, nothing serious,” Flowers said.

Flowers said he is unsure how many students were on board when the bus crashed and if there were any other adults on the bus besides the driver.

The Star has reached out to the Blue Springs School District for comment on the crash and has not yet heard back.

There was no information immediately available about the condition of the building housing the dentist’s office .

The crash marks the second time a vehicle wrecked into a dentist’s office in the Kansas City metro this week. On Wednesday, a pickup truck crashed into a northeast Kansas City dentist’s office on Independence Avenue, according to the Kansas City Fire Department.

Those who were in the truck fled the scene, the fire department said.
