KC’s Heidi Gardner reps Chiefs in new TV spot for Buffalo Wild Wings Pick 6 deal
We wouldn’t expect Heidi Gardner to do anything related to football without at least a subtle shoutout to her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, so her new TV ad for Buffalo Wild Wings does not disappoint.
The national chain brought back its Pick 6 deal on Wednesday. Gardner and rapper/actor/Eagles fan Dave Burd, aka Lil Dicky, star in ads promoting the football-season special.
Gardner, who has a partnership with the chicken wing chain, appears with the restaurant’s mascot Hank, a huge talking buffalo with wings. She’s not wearing Chiefs gear, but she does wear a Chiefs-red sweater in the spot.
The dine-in Pick 6 special returns from last football season — two entrees, two sides and two fountain drinks starting at $19.99.
You pick the entrees: 10 Boneless Wings, the All-American Cheeseburger or 3 Crispy Chicken Dippers. Upgrades are available for an additional cost.
“I’m from the Midwest and wings are important to us. It’s like barbecue and wings,” Gardner recently told Woman’s World. “I remember hearing about Buffalo Wild Wings, but we hadn’t gotten one in Kansas City yet. So it was always like this lore — until we got it.”
Gardner has spent the summer in Kansas City during her break from “SNL,” which just celebrated its 50th season. She’s been with the show since Season 43.
“I really feel like I will be processing it for the next 50 years,” she said about the celebrity-filled anniversary season. “It was so packed into eight months.
“We started off the year with Dana Carvey playing President Biden and that’s enough for me for two years. Just meeting Dana Carvey would have been enough.
“But then it was, like, the 50th! It was election season and Kamala Harris was there, but we also did the whole anniversary. There was an anniversary concert and I saw Nirvana play with Post Malone. I saw Cher sing ‘Turn Back Time,’ and that was before the 50th special even aired.
“At a certain point I was like, ‘Y’all, this is too much.’ Like, this is making my brain explode. It’s too much celebration, too much partying in the best way.”
She said she hopes the new season will be “wild, free, explorative and experimental.”
“There were so many things we needed to hit for the 50th to honor the people, the cast and the music, so I feel like Season 51 should be like ‘SNL’ unhinged,” she said.
Buffalo Wild Wings said she and Burd will appear in more spots and social media videos during the upcoming NFL season.
The new season of “SNL” debuts Oct. 4. The host and musical guest have not been announced.
