Heidi Gardner had (another) epic birthday, with help from the Kansas City Ballet

Heidi Gardner celebrated her birthday over the weekend with literal dancing in the streets — with some of the best dancers in town.

Kansas City Ballet dancers performed for the “Saturday Night Live” star and her guests over the weekend during yet another three-day bash marking the Kansas City native’s 42nd birthday.

A video shared by the ballet shows Gardner joining the dancers in a brief, choreographed cameo as they danced on a portion of West 18th Street.

“What an honor to celebrate #kansascity’s very own @heidilgardner for her birthday! We love you girl!” the ballet company wrote on Instagram.

Gardner shared photos and videos of the weekend on her Instagram Stories where she wrote: “KC Ballet performing at my birthday will live in my heart forever.”

Gardner spends summers in Kansas City at her beautifully renovated mid-century modern home in Johnson County during the “SNL” offseason. (She’s already thrown a pool party this summer.) This month she’s been in Belton, Missouri filming an independent film by another Kansas City native, Raleigh Cain.

Two years ago, for her milestone 40th birthday, Gardner designed a three-day affair for 25 friends and family members, half of whom traveled to Kansas City from both coasts. She broke down all the party details, in her own words, for New York magazine.

This year, the festivities included a Pee-wee Herman-themed party at Le Lounge at hotel No Vacancy on West 18th Street where partiers danced in the glow of a “Hee-Dee’s Playhouse” sign.

In incarnation of Pee-wee himself was on hand. (No kidding, that guy looked a lot like the late Paul Reubens.)

“@heidilgardner coming through with the best party of the year!! PEE WEE THEME?!? It doesn’t get any better than this!” Dispatch Pizza KC declared on Instagram, where it posted a video of the festivities..

As she always does, Gardner gave a shout-out to the various local vendors who helped create the weekend, continuing her reign as one of Kansas City’s biggest cheerleaders. She frequently posts photos of herself shopping in this store and that around town, encouraging people to check them out.

One party highlight this year was a retro TV-shaped cake from her go-to bakery — Little Butter Bakery — that showed music videos on it.

For the floral decor, she turned once again to the artists at The Cottage Rose, who attached googly eyes to flowers in keeping with the funhouse theme.

“We love a local icon who supports local,” the folks at Graze Gather KC who created the party’s charcuterie board, posted on Instagram.

Gardner “is like the mayor of KC in some ways!” a fan posted on the ballet’s video of their party performance.

If not the mayor, she was definitely queen for three days.
