Police identify Kansas City teen shot and killed in home

Police on Sunday identified a teen who was killed in a Kansas City home Saturday night as 16-year-old Traelynn Sibley.

Police were called just after 10 p.m. to a home in the 3600 block of Norton Avenue where they found a Sibley unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

Sibley was declared dead at a hospital. Preliminary evidence indicated she was inside the home when gunfire from one or more people outside struck her, according to Becchina. There was no known suspect Sunday morning.

Anyone with information was asked to contact homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.

There was a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS Hotline.
