Trucker finds body in Missouri River near I-435 in Kansas City
The Kansas City Police Department has begun a death investigation after a trucker found a body in the Missouri River Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched just after 1:30 p.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 435 after the trucker called about finding the body. The trucker told police he saw the body from a raised cab while he was riding in the passenger seat.
At the scene, officers saw the body on the riverbank near the I-435 bridge, according to an incident report.
The KCPD missing persons unit, crime scene investigators and a medical examiner were called to the scene. Fire and water rescue teams also responded.
Police have not yet publicly identified the person who was found dead. An investigation into what caused the death is ongoing.
