A break-up and confrontation preceded Lawrence shooting that left 2 dead, 1 injured
Two men were killed and a woman was critically injured in a domestic murder-suicide Thursday night, police said.
A man fatally shot another man and a woman, with whom he had been in a relationship, before fatally shooting himself at a Lawrence apartment complex, police said.
Police described the woman’s injuries as “life-threatening” and said she was flown to an area hospital for treatment.
Police were called to the Edgewood Homes apartments at 1600 Haskell Avenue around 8 p.m. Thursday after 911 callers reported gunfire in the area. At least one caller reported a man running through a parking lot, firing a weapon, police said.
Police found three people, all from Lawrence, who had been shot: 21-year-old Javien K. Hardin, who had been fatally shot inside a vehicle, 24-year-old Donavon J. Deleon, who was dead on the ground from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a 22-year-old woman who had critical injuries from being shot.
Investigators determined the woman and Deleon had recently ended a relationship. When the woman arrived home on Thursday, Deleon was allegedly in her residence. After a confrontation, she ran to a truck where Hardin was waiting, police said.
Deleon allegedly shot Hardin before running after and shooting the woman and then himself, police said.
