Here are 14 ways to celebrate Pride in KC this June: Parades, festivals & more
From parades and festivals to a dog fair and a queer history event, Kansas City residents can find a multitude of ways to celebrate Pride in 2025.
All throughout June, Kansas City nonprofits and businesses put on events celebrating the LGBTQ community.
Outside of these events, Kansas City can celebrate Pride by checking out some LGBTQ+ books for all ages, taking a self-guided tour of Kansas City’s gay history, or learning about the Kansas native who designed the rainbow Pride flag.
Here are 14 Pride events in the Kansas City area happening in June.
Kansas City Pride Festival
- Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8
- Theis Park, across from the Nelson-Atkins
Thousands are expected to attend the 50th edition of this three-day festival. The event features booths for LGBTQ-friendly nonprofits and businesses and musical and drag performances. Tickets are $10 per day and can be purchased online or at the gate. Bags bigger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches must be clear.
Pride Shabbat
- Friday, June 6 at 6 p.m.
- Kol Ami, 4501 Walnut St.
Experience a Shabbat service — celebrating the Jewish Sabbath — that embraces both Jewish and LGBTQ identities, according to the Facebook event. Snacks and kids activities begin at 5 p.m. with service starting at 6 p.m. The Kosher buffet goes from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and is $10 per person.
BlaqOut parties and picnic
- Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8
- 2801 Southwest Boulevard and Blue Valley Park, 2301 Topping Ave.
Keep the Pride weekend celebration going with other Black LGBTQ people at parties on Friday and Saturday nights and a picnic on Sunday in Blue Valley Park.
Kansas City Pride Parade
- Saturday, June 7, 11 a.m.
- The parade route is between Westport and the Country Club Plaza
This free parade runs Westport to the Pride Festival at Theis Park. Starting at 11 a.m., the floats and performers will travel along Broadway Boulevard and Mill Creek Parkway, then turns to W. 47th St.
Fortune Feimster comedy show
- Saturday, June 7 at 4 and 7 p.m.
- Tickets start at $41
- The Midland Theatre, 1228 Main St.
The comedian, known for her appearances on “The L Word,” reboot and “The Mindy Project,” brings her jokes to downtown Kansas City.
Conversation with MSNBC Anchor Jonathan Capehart
- Thursday, June 12, at 6 p.m., a reception at 5:30 p.m.
- Plaza branch of the Kansas City Public Library, 4801 Main St.
The MSNBC anchor and Washington Post writer will share his experience growing into his identity as a gay Black man through a conversation with KCUR announcer Paul Nyakatura.
Pride Night at the K
- Thursday, June 12 at 6:40 p.m.
- Themed tickets start at $35 before fees
- Kauffman Stadium
A themed Pride night ticket includes rainbow Royals emblazoned socks, stickers, fan and bag.
KC Current Pride Night
- Saturday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m.
- Tickets start at $36 including fees
- CPKC Stadium, 1460 E. Front St.
Fans who attend the women’s soccer match against Racing Louisville will receive a Pride-themed giveaway item.
Pride bar crawl
- Saturday, June 21, at 4 p.m. until midnight
- Westport bars
- Tickets start at $25
Fill your cup with pride at this open-ended bar crawl, which includes a drag show and specials at eight Westport area bars.
Banned by Outside Voices KC chorus
- Saturday, June 21, at 7 p.m.
- Pay what you can for tickets
- Hall Auditorium at Pembroke Hill School, 5121 State Line Road
Hear justice-focused music sung by the LGBTQ choir, alongside local drag performers.
History of LGBT gay activism in Lawrence
- Wednesday, June 25, at 6 p.m.
- Plaza branch of the Kansas City Public Library, 4801 Main St.
Lawrence, Kansas was a center of gay activism in the 1960s, according to the book Liberating Lawrence. Hear about this chapter of Midwestern queer history at the library’s event.
Pride at PAWS
- Saturday, June 28 from noon - 4 p.m.
- 7833 Wornall Road
Bring your dog to celebrate pride at the KC Paws Dog Rescue in Waldo. There will be photo shoot opportunities for you and your pet, along with dogs up for adoption.
Heartland Men’s Chorus concert
- Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 29, at 3:30 p.m.
- Johnson County Community College’s Yardley Hall, 12345 College Blvd, Overland Park
- Tickets start at $40
The chorus of more than 125 singers will perform anthems of pride at their two shows.
People’s Pride Kansas City
- Sunday, June 29, noon - 10 p.m., with a parade at 4 p.m.
- West Bottoms, including West Bottoms Plant Co. and The Black Box Theatre
Advertised as a free Pride celebration with “No cops, no corporations,” the event includes performers, vendors and a parade at 4 p.m.
