A man allegedly traveling fast on Interstate 35 in Overland Park was killed in a fatal car crash early Sunday morning, according to Overland Park police.

Police responded to an injury crash at approximately 3:49 a.m., police spokesperson John Lacy said, after first receiving a report about a vehicle moving at high speeds. Moments later, police received another report that the same vehicle had crashed on I-35 under the I-635 bridge.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died.

The driver has been identified as Nicolas Hawthorne, 34, of Kansas City, Missouri.

The crash is currently under investigation. People with information are asked to call Overland Park police at 913-890-1516.
