One dead after vehicle struck pedestrian in Kansas City Saturday night

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Kansas City Saturday.

The driver was traveling east on Missouri 210 Highway, just east of North Eldon Avenue, around 10:30 p.m. through a green light just as the pedestrian crossed the street south in front of the them, according to Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was taken to North Kansas City Hospital, where he died Sunday.

This marks the 12th fatality this year compared to 24 this time last year, according to data tracked by the Kansas City Police Department.
