Struck by car while walking on highway, pedestrian dies of injuries: Police

A Kansas City pedestrian who was struck by a passing car 10 days ago has died of his injuries at an Independence hospital, according to police.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, was walking in the middle eastbound lane of Interstate 70 at Sterling Avenue around 3 a.m. Feb. 23, according to the Kansas City Police Department. A red Honda Civic going eastbound on I-70 allegedly hit the man and knocked him to the ground, leaving him critically injured.

The man was taken to CenterPoint Medical Center, where he died around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the Honda, who was uninjured, pulled over after the incident and spoke with investigators, according to KCPD.
