As extreme cold continues in the Kansas City area following Tuesday’s snowfall, some schools across the metro have announced that they will remain closed Thursday.

Kansas City received 3.2 inches of snow in Tuesday’s storm, according to the National Weather Service. Between 2 and 4 inches fell in other parts of the metro, with the heaviest snowfall recorded south of the city.

Several cold weather advisories are still in effect through the end of the week. A record low temperature of -1 degrees was recorded Tuesday morning in Pleasant Hill, and meteorologists expect extreme lows throughout Wednesday night and Thursday, with potential windchill as low as -25 degrees.

Some school districts are on their third round of multi-day closures this year and have used all of their allotted virtual instruction days. Many have adjusted their end-of-year calendars accordingly.

Here is the working list of schools that have announced closures, late starts and virtual learning days for Tuesday. The Star will update this list as information becomes available.
