Latest winter storm moves away from Kansas City. How much snow fell in the metro?
Snowfall ended after a winter storm that blanketed Kansas City with snow Tuesday moved eastward out of the region, according to the National Weather Service.
While there may be some snow flurries at times on Wednesday, the weather service said no accumulation is expected.
Kansas City’s official storm total is 3.2 inches of snow, which was observed at Kansas City International Airport, according to the weather service.
Other parts of the metro saw snowfall totals ranging from 2 inches to just over 4 inches, with the heaviest snowfall in the southern part.
Here’s a look at where the heaviest snowfall was reported as of 7:40 a.m. Wednesday:
- 4.3 inches in Lee’s Summit.
- 4 inches in Lenexa, Overland Park and Grandview.
- 3.8 inches in Kansas City, North, and near Lake Winnebago.
- 3.7 inches Pleasant Hill.
- 3.6 inches in Excelsior Springs.
- 3.5 inches in Olathe.
- 3.3 inches in Oak Grove.
- 3 inches in Kansas City, Kansas and Prairie Village, and Kansas City, North.
- 2.3 inches in Independence.
So far this winter, Kansas City has seen 20.5 inches of snow, slightly above the annual average of 18.2 inches. This winter has been the eighth snowiest since 2000. The snowiest winter during that period was the 2009-2010 season, which saw 44.3 inches of snow.
The overall snowiest winter was in 1911-1912, when 68 inches fell.
