Lenexa man, 46, dies in Monday morning motorcycle crash: Olathe police
A Lenexa man died in a motorcycle crash early Monday morning in Olathe, according to police.
Police responded to the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near E. Santa Fe Street in Olathe around 1:19 a.m., according to Olathe Police Department spokesperson John Moncayo.
Officers discovered a man whose motorcycle appeared to have crashed. The man was pronounced dead on the scene and later identified as James R. Woodrow, 46.
OPD does not believe any other vehicles or people were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Woodrow was born in Minnesota and graduated from Shawnee Mission West before settling in Lenexa, according to social media.The father and motorcycle enthusiast worked as a field service technician at TGW Logistics Group, a warehouse automation company based in Austria, and had owned a 2022 BMW motorcycle at the time of his death, according to social media.
Throughout Missouri, 172 people died in motorcycle crashes in 2023, the most recent available year of data from the Missouri Department of Transportation. These crashes accounted for 17% of all traffic fatalities statewide that year.
