One dead after motorcycle slams into van Saturday night in Kansas City

One person is dead after a motorcycle crashed into a van Saturday night in downtown Kansas City.

A Yamaha R1 motorcycle was speeding south on Broadway Boulevard around 7 p.m. at the same time a white GMC van was pulling out of a parking lot near 18th Street, according to Officer Alayna Gonzales, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

The Yamaha R1 smashed into the driver side of the GMC, killing the Yamaha R1 driver. The GMC driver received minor injuries. This death marks the 88th traffic fatality reported so far this year in Kansas City.

Police have not released the victim’s name and age.
