Person riding a bicycle on I-435 hit and killed in Kansas City-area crash
A bicyclist was struck and killed on Interstate 435 West Friday morning, police said.
Officers with the Overland Park Police Department responded just before 2 a.m. Friday to I-435 near Nall Avenue.
A crash summary provided by police said a man rode his bicycle along westbound I-435 in a lane of traffic. A vehicle merged onto westbound I-435 from Nall Avenue and struck the bicyclist in the lane of travel, according to police.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Police later identified the victim as 27-year-old Michael Nowlin of Springfield, Missouri.
An investigation into the crash was ongoing Friday.
