Snow’s arrived in Kansas City and the streets may be hard to maneuver. Forecasters and authorities are urging residents to remain at home if possible.

When you can get back out depends on the weather and the city’s plowing. The city has an extensive plan for clearing the streets in a timely manner, and now’s the real test.

The city prioritizes plowing differently for main roads (arterial streets) and side streets, so that roads with the most traffic get the most treatment

KC City Manager Brian Platt said their team is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach across all city departments to this weekend’s massive snowfall that will end when “every street and every neighborhood is clear.”

But the real question is always when that plow will get to you. You can track it through the city’s tool.

HOW CAN I SEE WHAT STREETS ARE CLEARED?

This Kansas City map tells you when a plow last went through a street. The colors on each street indicate the last time a snowplow cleared the road.

Each color represents the last time a snowplow drove through a street. You can zoom in on the map to find your area and see how recently it’s been plowed.

KC FORGOT MY STREET. WHAT DO I DO?

Report it to the city. You can either use the myKCMO app on your phone to report streets that need plowing, call 311 or go to the KCMO website and select “snow” as the issue. The city asks that you wait 24 hours after the snow has stopped before reporting.
