How much are plane tickets from Kansas City to New Orleans for the Super Bowl? Not cheap

As fans around the country place bets on who’s going to win the Super Bowl, some are planning in advance to travel to New Orleans to watch the big game.

For Chiefs fans who are hoping to see the team try to win a third-straight championship in 2025, getting to The Big Easy may be a bit of a hassle.

Only one airline at Kansas City International Airport offers nonstop service to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, and it’s Southwest Airlines. The airline only offers one nonstop flight per day.

There is a chance additional flights from other airlines will be added closer to the game, since that happened for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas in February.

Other options at KCI would take you to a connecting city before touching down in New Orleans. No matter your journey, you might want to book a flight soon, because prices are starting to climb as it gets closer to Feb. 9.

As of Dec. 30, here is a look at the prices for flights to New Orleans the week of the Super Bowl.

Kansas City flights to New Orleans from Southwest

The price of Southwest Airlines’ daily nonstop flight from Kansas City to New Orleans depends on when you decide to fly out from KCI. Getting to New Orleans may also be cheaper and easier than leaving.

A flight that leaves Monday, Feb. 3, costs $180, but the return flight options are more expensive. Nonstop flights back to Kansas City Monday, Feb. 10, the day after the Super Bowl, are unavailable on Southwest. The cheapest option leaves at 5:55 a.m. with a layover in Dallas, priced at $692.

It would be even more expensive if you decided to leave Kansas City later in the week.

The nonstop flight to New Orleans costs $743 on Thursday, Feb. 6, with the same return options for Feb. 10. A nonstop option to get back to Kansas City becomes available if you delay your return for Tuesday, Feb. 11 — for $743.

Prices also drop for connecting flights back to Kansas City on Feb. 11. An 8:55 a.m. flight with a layover in Denver costs $246, and a 5:20 p.m. departure with a layover Atlanta costs $190.

Other Kansas City to New Orleans flight options

If you prefer another airline, other options are available to get you to New Orleans for the Super Bowl..

A flight with United Airlines leaves at 6:15 a.m. Feb. 6 and returns Monday, Feb. 10, both with layovers in Houston, costs $844 roundtrip. The prices drops to $762 roundtrip if you leave Wednesday, Feb. 5.

One roundtrip flight from Kansas City to New Orleans through American Airlines from Feb. 6 to 10 costs $1,134. The flights to and from New Orleans each have a layover in Dallas. However, if you push your return to Kansas City back to Tuesday, Feb. 11, a roundtrip flight costs $463.

Spirit Airlines offers a roundtrip flight that leaves Feb. 6 and returns Feb. 10 for $386. If you can stay in New Orleans longer and leave Wednesday, Feb. 12, a roundtrip flight costs $212. Each flight has layovers in Orlando.
