Second teen charged with murder in shooting death of popular KC chef Shaun Brady

A second juvenile has been charged with murder in Wednesday’s fatal shooting of popular chef and restaurant owner Shaun Brady.

Brady, who co-owned Irish restaurant Brady & Fox in east Brookside, was taking out the trash outside his restaurant on Wednesday evening when he became involved in a fatal confrontation with multiple juveniles around a car. Brady suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to police, and died shortly after the shooting at a local hospital.

The teenage boy, who has not been publicly named, was charged with second-degree murder and attempted stealing, both felonies. Both charges were filed in Jackson County juvenile court on Friday, according to court spokesperson Scott Lauck.

A second teen boy was charged with second-degree murder, felony attempted vehicle theft and unlawful use of a weapon in Jackson County family court on Thursday.

Both teens, who have not been named publicly due to their age, were arrested within an hour of the shooting.

Mandatory certification hearings will follow to determine whether the teens will be tried as adults.
