A man was stabbed during an altercation on a bus in Midtown Monday, according to Kansas City police.

Kansas City police officers were sent to meet the bus around 1:30 p.m. Monday at E. 31st Street and Troost Avenue, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department. Officers were told that an argument escalated among at least three people, including the man and two suspects, one of whom stabbed the man with a knife, Becchina said.

The victim and one of the suspects were both taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, while the second suspect was arrested, Becchina said. Police are classifying the stabbing as an aggravated assault.

By the time police arrived, a security officer on the bus had already attempted to intervene and break up the fight, Becchina said.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority was not immediately able to provide comment on the incident Monday night.
