Police search for suspect after Kansas City, Kansas officer stabbed while starting shift

Police are searching for a suspect after an officer was stabbed while starting his shift in Kansas City, Kansas Saturday night.

The officer started his shift around 9:58 p.m., when he was approached by someone “acting bizarre” in a parking lot near 47th Street and State Avenue, according to a news release from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

The individual took out a sharp object, stabbed the officer twice and fled northbound, police said. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police have not located the suspect and are investigating the incident.
