Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce dined at KC restaurant known for grilled meats, great views

He wouldn’t elaborate much, but Piropos co-owner Gary Worden was willing to confirm Wednesday that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce dined at his Briarcliff Village restaurant Sunday night after the Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Travis has been to Piropos a number of times and we were delighted to have him and Taylor visit earlier in the week,” Worden told The Star. “Everyone was excited to have them in the restaurant.”

The Daily Mail previously reported that the pair pulled up to the Argentinian steakhouse in a Rolls Royce and dined for two hours.

Worden and his wife, Christina, opened Piropos in 2001 as a nod to Christina’s South American heritage. (She was raised in Buenos Aires — where, coincidentally, Swift’s next three shows will be held next month — and some of the menu items are inspired by her family’s recipes.) The restaurant was originally located in downtown Parkville but moved to 4141 N. Mulberry Drive in 2006.

“We’ve been growing along with the Northland since then,” Worden said.

Argentinians are big on grilled meats, and so is Piropos. The menu features, among other items, a 14-ounce grilled ribeye ($52), grilled beef medallions with blackened tiger shrimp ($49) and a 12-ounce pan-seared New Zealand rack of lamb ($52). Seafood (a pan-seared blackened mahi mahi, a 7-ounce poached Maine lobster tail) and empanadas (beef, chicken, fish, caprese) are also staples.

Kelce is no stranger to beefy dinners: For his birthday earlier this month he took a crew of friends for steak at the Golden Ox in the West Bottoms.

At Piropos, the view is a big draw. The restaurant sits on a high hilltop overlooking Kansas City’s downtown skyline. A 35-foot mural inside shows a scene from downtown Buenos Aires painted by local artist Cathy Kline.

As for the name, piropo is a Spanish word that refers to a flirtatious remark.

If you’d like a better shot at a Taylor-Travis sighting next time, Piropos is currently hiring hosts and line cooks. But you might want to get that resume in before Kelce relocates from Briarcliff to Leawood.
