Traffic backed up on I-35 near Liberty because of incident in northbound lanes
The northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Liberty were briefly closed Wednesday because of an incident that caused an “extensive” traffic backup, according to police.
The Liberty Police Department posted on Twitter shortly after 1 p.m. that the northbound lanes could be closed for an “extended period of time.”
About 1:20 p.m., the police department updated that information to say one lane was open. But traffic remained backed up behind the crash scene and emergency vehicles were gathered at the site.
About 1:35 p.m., police said the highway was open again and the highway patrol and Liberty fire crews cleared the scene.
