Update: The Missouri Department of Transportation posted at 3:53 p.m. Monday that the highway has been reopened.

Westbound Interstate 670 in downtown Kansas City is closed, the Missouri Department of Transportation posted on social media just after 2:10 p.m. Monday.

Police activity shut down the westbound lanes near Grand Boulevard and traffic is being diverted.

The Kansas City Police Department said a preliminary investigation indicates there was a suicide.

Closures include:

  • Northbound US 71 to westbound I-670
  • Westbound Interstate 70 is diverting to northbound Interstate 29
  • Southbound US 71 to westbound I-670
  • Southbound Interstate 35 to westbound I-670
