In December 2021, UMB’s attorneys filed suit against Thomas Hart Benton’s beneficiaries in the U.S. District Court of Western Missouri, accusing them of violating anti-racketeering laws. The complaint opens with a dramatic retelling of the Lyman Family’s botched bank heist in 1973.
