If you live in Waldo, Brookside or near the Plaza, you’ve heard this story before.
The city of Kansas City announced that trash and recycling pickup is suspended Thursday and Friday, as the city will have those drivers prepare the roads for the incoming snow and icy roads. Kansas City’s expected to receive between 5 to 9 inches, while areas north of the metro could see nine inches.
If your scheduled trash day falls on Thursday or Friday, you’ll be able to place four bags out next week, along with unlimited curbside recycling.
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas isn’t collecting trash Thursday due to the inclement weather. Their collection is pushed back one day, meaning:
- If your normal day is Thursday, they’ll pick up your items on Friday.
- If your trash day is Friday, place your items for pick up at the curb or street edge on Saturday,
Check if your area is also delaying or canceling trash pickup for the impending weather:
Many areas surrounding Kansas City use private trash collection, so different businesses pick up the trash, not the government. You can search your address to see if the weather will disrupt your trash service on most private collectors’ sites.
