‘We’re experiencing systemic racism’

Black people exposed to police violence were more likely to wind up in the hospital. More than 100 did.


The Star obtained records from more than 600 police encounters over two-and-a-half years in Kansas City that show officers used force at a disproportionate rate against Black people.

The police department’s data included incidents involving bullets, bean bag rounds, police dogs, Tasers, pepper spray and physical maneuvers.
