The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department on Tuesday identified the victim of a fatal two-car crash last week as 24-year-old Austin Irwin.

Irwin, of Kansas City, Kansas, was killed Oct. 11 during a head-on crash in the 5700 block of Kaw Drive. Police have said the crash involved a second vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction.

Officers were called to the crash site around 6:30 p.m. Irwin was killed at the scene. The other driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released, police have said.

A GoFundMe fundraising webpage was set up last week seeking donations for the Irwin family. On the webpage, Irwin is described as “an amazing father” to his 3-year-old daughter. He was the oldest of four siblings, and his family is heartbroken over the loss, the webpage says.

The webpage had generated nearly $7,000 in donations as of Tuesday evening.

The crash remains under investigation by Kansas City, Kansas police, Nancy Chartrand, a department spokeswoman, said in a statement. Police are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
