59-year-old motorcyclist killed after colliding with car in Kansas City

A 59-year-old Independence man died at a hospital Thursday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a sedan, police said in an email.

The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. near East 59th Street and South Noland Road as the Suzuki motorcycle was headed south, said Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.

The motorcyclist made a left turn into the path of a Chevrolet sedan that was headed north, she said. The two vehicles collided, throwing the motorcyclist from the motorcycle.

The man died a short time after arriving at a hospital. His identity was not released.
