Summer or fall? Kansas Citians won’t have to chose as temps go on roller coaster ride
The Kansas City metro will revisit the warmth of summer this weekend but that visit will be short-lived as much cooler weather is expected next week, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today we are anticipating lots of sunshine,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “We are seeing clear skies overhead right now.”
Stars are visible early in the morning because the smoky, hazy conditions from the wildfires out west have cleared up “ever so slightly,” she said.
“It’s not completely gone but it is going to improve for the day,” Ritter said. “So we will have more sunshine, blue skies and temps in the mid-80s.”
It’s going to get really warm and windy by Saturday, with highs close to 90 degrees, she said.
“Then on Sunday, a cold front is going to approach and ahead of it we’re going to be talking about a chance for rain during the evening hours on Sunday, maybe lingering into early Monday morning,” Ritter said. “The bigger takeaway here is the fact that it’s about to get a lot cooler with highs in the 60s and even 50s late next week.”
Overnight lows will fall into the 40s in the metro late next week also.
The National Weather Service in Kansas City said that widespread severe weather is not likely with the rain Sunday.
Patchy frost may be possible over northern Missouri next week as overnight lows in some areas could fall to the middle to upper 30s.
The average high for this time of year in the Kansas City is the mid-70s. The average low is in the mid-50s.
