Police investigating after dead body pulled from Missouri River in Sugar Creek
Police are investigating after a dead body was pulled Sunday afternoon from the Missouri River in Sugar Creek.
Officers, firefighters and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded before 5:30 p.m. to LaBenite Park along Route 291, where the body of a male was found, according to the Sugar Creek Police Department.
It remained unclear how old the person was. He has not been identified.
The circumstances of his death were also not known as of Sunday, police said.
In an email, Sgt. Tom Butkovich with Sugar Creek police said there was no reason to think the body found Sunday was connected to an incident last month when a corpse was found in the river at the same park.
