Kansas City police in standoff with armed man who shot at Arrowhead Stadium
Kansas City police are engaged in a standoff Saturday afternoon with an armed man in the Truman Sports Complex parking lot who they say fired shots at Arrowhead Stadium.
As of Saturday afternoon, no one had been shot, Kansas City Police Department spokesman Capt. David Jackson said in an email.
The standoff was initially reported just after noon. By 2 p.m., Jackson said, officers were still negotiating with the man.
All entrances to the complex and parking lot were closed, Jackson said. Roads by the stadiums remained open.
No sporting events were being held at the complex Saturday afternoon, Jackson said.
The Royals are scheduled to play at Kauffman Stadium, next to Arrowhead, Saturday evening.
Mike Swanson, Royals vice president of communication and broadcasting, said he knew nothing about the situation other than that no one, including him, was allowed into the stadium.
The Chiefs declined to comment on the situation, directing questions to the police.
In a Twitter post, Saturday, police asked residents to avoid the area.
