Passenger killed when motorcycle and pickup collide in Independence, according to police
One person was killed Friday evening when a motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck near 19th Street and Sterling Avenue, according to Independence police.
The crash happened about 5 p.m. Police are withholding the victim’s name until relatives have been notified.
According to initial police reports, a motorcycle was westbound when it struck a Ford F-250 that was northbound. The male driver and a female passenger on the Honda motorcycle were taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The female passenger later died of her injuries. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the pickup, was not injured, police said in a news release.
No other details were released. Police said the crash remained under investigation on Friday.
