One dead, one injured after sedan hits motorcycle in Basehor Friday morning

A woman was killed and a man injured when a sedan struck the back of a motorcycle in Basehor early Friday morning, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

According to the report, the sedan was driving east on U.S. 24-40 just west of 150th Street when it was unable to stop in time. It hit the back of a motorcycle.

The male driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, the report said. The woman passenger was also transported and died at the hospital later that day. Neither rider wore a helmet, the report said.

The woman was identified as 46-year-old Tamra Walters of Tonganoxie.

The driver of the sedan was not injured, police said.
