Rain with a chance of thunderstorms will reach Kansas City; hottest weather of season is on the way
Some portions of Kansas City could receive some much-needed rain while other parts of the region will see a continued dry spell, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
“It’s going to be fine out there for this evening and overnight tonight but eventually as we head into the wee hours of the morning after about 4 or 5 o’clock at least the chance of thunderstorms will be developing,” said Lauria, who provides weather updates to The Star.
Thunderstorms could produce some local heavy rain, some strong gusty winds and the possibility of some severe weather. The rain is expected to stick around until about 11 a.m.
However, some portions of the Kansas City area may not see a drop of rain, Lauria said.
“Again, we are hoping for some rain because a lot of you have been very dry for quite some time,” he said. “But this is not going to be an area-wide rain at least in terms of the amounts. So it is something that we will watch.”
Temperatures will steadily climb throughout Saturday, with climbing to a high of 87 degrees. It could be windy by Saturday afternoon.
Humidity and the hot, sticky weather is expected to return. The high temperatures should reach into the 90s beginning on Tuesday and lasting the rest of the week.
“We have got some pretty hot weather, the hottest weather so far this summer coming our way for next week,” Lauria said.
