Rain could bring relief from heat, possible flooding Thursday in Kansas City area

Kansas City could see a break from the heat along with some rainfall Thursday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

There will be an 80% chance of rain, which could range from one-quarter inch to 1 1/2 inches, Lauria said in a weather report for the Star. There is a chance of flooding and high winds, he added, depending on how the storm develops overnight.

Rain chances are highest in the early morning around 6 a.m., but drop off as the day goes on, Lauria said.

“Our models are showing another little wave coming through tomorrow. I think the chances of that appear to be pretty low,” he said.

Temperatures for Thursday will start around 69 degrees and could reach up to 84. On Friday there is a 20% chance of rain with a forecast high of 91. Rain chances increase again Saturday at 70% with a high of 87.

The highs next week will range from the upper 80s into the mid-90s.
