Driver flees scene of Kansas City, Kansas, crash that killed one and injured children

A hit-and-run crash in Kansas City, Kansas, left one person dead and five others, including children, hospitalized early Sunday, police said.

About 12:15 a.m., Kansas City, Kansas, police were called to a wreck at North 10th Street and Parallel Parkway, police spokesman Officer T.J. Tomasic said in a news release.

A four-door sedan with three adults and two children was crossing the parkway northbound at 10th Street when an eastbound SUV on Parallel Parkway crashed into the sedan, police said.

The sedan’s driver died at the scene, Tomasic said. The SUV’s driver fled the scene on foot.

The two other adults and two children in the sedan were taken to a hospital, along with the one adult passenger in the SUV.

Police are investigating the crash.
